About me

I'm a doctoral researcher and work for the project R1-[ImageSpace]. In my Ph.D. thesis I develop a theory of mental imagery, called perceptual quantification theory, and a corresponding computational model. The theory understands mental imagery as based on abstract perceptual symbols which are emergent products of multi-modal perceptual interaction with the environment. These symbols are mapped back onto fitting perceptual actions during mental imagery in order to reason with the resulting low-level perceptual feedback. The theory and its model are applied to different phenomena of mental imagery such as mental scanning, mental reinterpretation, eye movements, and cognitive penetration.
